What better way to spend a hot sunny Sunday afternoon than cruising along a canal watching the ducks with their babies and smelling the beautiful scent of the overhanging branches of the trees and shrubs along the way. Well had you been a member of the Hayling Island Lions Club that is exactly what you would have been doing when some of the members went on the Chichester Canal Afternoon Tea Trip. We watched the surrounding countryside pass by and stopped at Hunston Brudge to admire admire the view of the spire of Chichester Cathedral painted by Turner

When people ask what do Lions do our Membership Officer is keen to point out that as well as serving our community we also have a fun social side to the club. One of our social evenings recently was to support the Mayors Murder Mystery Fund Raising Evening.  Not only did the Lions have 2 tables of supporters one of our Lions was 'murdered'. The event took place at the Plaza and the guests enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal and were entertained by a group of HIAD's actors. The murder (in fact 2 murders) took place at the reading of a will and the guests had to use all their  powers of deduction to decide 'who dunnit'. Not only was it a fun evening but the mayor made over 1,000 for her charity appeal. Below is a picture of Marilyn following her fatal stabbing.

Murder Mystery Evening

Guests, partners and friends from Havant Lions listened in awe as the Haggis was traditionally addressed during our annual Burns night      celebration.

After the Burns night fare we enjoyed the Scottish Reel Club entertaining us with a selection of Dances and Reels, some of which we were cajoled to take part in!
